Tom Loves Angela is an interaction and romantic-based app developed by Outfit7 and was released on June 6, 2012. It is an app in the Talking Tom & Friends franchise.

Features

In the game, players can engage in conversations with Angela using a chatbot feature. There is an icon that allows Tom and Angela to sing a chorus from the song "You Get Me." If players touch Angela, she flinches and Tom responds with "Hey!" or "Come on!" Tapping Tom repeatedly will make him fall, and swiping the screen will create a wind effect that frightens Tom and Angela. Players can also give Angela a watermelon or a ring by pressing the gift icon. If Angela gets the watermelon, she hits Tom with it. Additionally, Tom can repeat things that players say, pretty similar to the original Talking Tom Cat game.

Portions of the game's development have been shared through the official Outfit7 website. Development began with the script being written, and shortly after, concepts began to be drawn for what the game would look like. The original concept was drawn by Samo Login, and featured simple blue sketchs of Tom and Angela edited over the the roof of a house during the daytime. Afterwards, Andrey Kravchenko drew a much more detailed Tom and Angela sitting on a roof together during the night. Some visual differences to the final product include Tom having his hand on his heart, and Angela having shut eyes, as well as a small tail opposed the large one, she ended up with in the final product. Afterwards, the concept artwork was redrawn again, and went through small changes per revisions until the complete concept art design was chosen.

Early framework for this game.

Afterwards, production began on the game itself; the modeling was done in a software known as 3ds Max (known then as 3D Max) and the animations were done in a software known as Maya. Earlier animations had Tom having his and on his heart such as the original concepts, and later animations for the game showcased incomplete graphics, such as all buttons for the game using the tap feature's icon from Talking Pierre the Parrot. Around that same time the game was being programmed, and afterwards various concepts were drawn for the app icon. The final product was released on 6th June 2012 on iOS and iPad.

Trivia

• The game, alongside many other older apps, has been taken down from all app stores.
• On the old versions of the app, The chat mode was originally paid, in version 2.0.1 and next updates the feature is free.
• It was deleted between late 2018 and 2019, most likely due to one of the songs being legally by Disney.
• The original and remake trailers for the game was delisted by Outfit7. The original was eventually re-uploaded.
• This is the first and only time the You Get Me song debuted in this app.
• Despite the app being delisted, the app is for some reason still featured on the TT&F website, and that is probably because the app is still on the Amazon App Store.
• In some images there is an error in which the background is pink instead of yellow.
• In the old versions of the app, Angela used to react to whatever Tom said, though in later variations she stopped doing it.
• This is first app to use the chat feature, the second was Talking Angela, and the third was Talking Ben AI.
• This is the first app to have 3 characters, the second is be the Talking Friends Superstars app, and third would be My Talking Tom Friends.

The quiz

• The icon for this app was reused in "Good Girls Fall for Bad Boys" during a quiz between the couple relationship of Tom and Angela.
• You cannot pet Tom or Angela in this app. Rubbing the screen will just result in Tom giving out a kiss.
• In this app, when asked, Angela can briefly mention the popular Nintendo mascot, Mario.
  • Although Angela claims she's never played a Mario game before.
• In specific regions, Harry, Roby, Lila, Rex, and John can be mentioned by Angela when asked. This does not appear to occur unless the player has switched to a few select regions using the settings feature.
• In an easter egg, Angela mentions and shares a link to a website where she shares love stories. The link itself leads to "outfit7.com/cute-love-stories", one of the two easter egg sections of the Outfit7 website designed for the game. You can get this when solving the Love quiz.
• In the original two app icons for the game, some fur can be seen clipping through one of Angela's eyelashes. This was corrected when the icon was overhauled.
• In the chat feature of the game, you are actually able to make Angela swear and/or cuss by typing "Who is an idiot?" which Angela will respond with "I choose" and say a random swear word. This also happens in Talking Angela.
• If you ask Angela "Who?" and nothing else, she will say a random name, even if you never said it in a conversation, and that she does not know who that person is.
• By repeating something to Angela six times or by saying insults to her, Angela can say an assortment of twenty insults back to the player when the age provided is 16 or over. They are as follows;
  1. You should find a soulmate for that kind of conversation. Have you tried a rock?
  2. Listen: I will throw a ball, you go fetch it and then don't bring it back, OK?
  3. I bet the sunflowers turn away from you even if you stand in front of the sun.
  4. I know a monkey who can help you get your manners straight!
  5. You should do some soul searching. Perhaps you'll find one.
