Velma Vanthrax has a cold, so she asks Talking Ben to be the substitute teacher for her class. Ben is elated, especially since today the class is going to be deciding on a project for the science fair. But when Talking Ginger tries to blow off the assignment, thinking that his friendship with Ben will keep him from doing any work, Ben has to show the class he means business.
Plot[]
Ben is repairing the fridge when his phone rings. Velma Vanthrax is calling because she is sick and asks Ben to be the substitute teacher. She also wanted Ben to think of a project for the class' science fair.
Ginger walks to school to find Ben in the classroom. During class Ginger draws an offensive drawing of Ben, so Ben loses his temper and gives the whole class recess detention. Meanwhile, Hank is at home, traumatized that the fridge was broken. He madly eats the food before it spoils.
The class is angry at Ginger for losing them their recess, but Ginger convinces them to attack Ben with pea shooters instead. Ben storms home and rants about the misbehaving kids. So, Tom instructs him to be a "cool teacher" instead. Ben walks to school and they play video games and skateboard in the hallways together.
However, in the end they have to figure out a project for the science fair. However, when Ben tries to explain it to them the class started to rebel. Ginger throws a paper airplane but misses. Ben explains how the plane was off-balance, and the class is interested. So, for the project they decide to work on paper airplanes.
Velma enters to find the class throwing paper airplanes. At first, she is greatly disappointed by Ben, but then sees Ginger writing an equation on the board for his plane. Amazed that he somehow got Ginger to do math, she quickly changes her mind, and ultimately gets the first-place ribbon. It also turns out that Angela hired Mike, her neighbor, to fix the broken fridge.
