Talking Tom Cat (known simply as Talking Tom in some regions) is an interaction-based video game developed by Outfit7 and released on April 6, 2016 as part of the Talking Tom & Friends line up. It is a reimagining of the original Talking Tom Cat, which released in 2010. Though a remake of it, it is radically different from the original version, only retaining few elements from it. The visual style is also enhanced, now featuring an art style closer to the style which originally appeared in My Talking Tom, which released in late 2013.
The app features a talking cat, named Tom, whose main feature is to repeat words the user says into the microphone with a high-pitched helium voice.

The relaunch of Talking Tom Cat was first teased through Samo Login, one of the developers of the original version of the app, who on March 26, 2016 (March 25, 2016 for some countries) posted a short video showcasing footage of the relaunch on his own YouTube channel. The footage shows Tom repeating what the user says to him and his tail being tapped, both features from the original version of the app.[2] Following that, Samo Login would continue to release five more videos featuring footage of the relaunch,[3][4][5][6][7] with the final one releasing on March 28, 2016, only nine days before the final release of the app. The purpose of these videos are unknown, however, they may exist to test the recording feature in the app, which allows users to upload videos of the app to various social medias. On April 6, 2016, Talking Tom Cat was relaunched,[1] with the remake replacing the original version on both iOS and Android.

- It is unknown why Talking Tom Cat got an overhaul in 2016, although fans usually agree it was because the old model looked uncanny and outdated.
- Though some believe it could have also been to remove references to apps prior to 2014.
- In the original version, Tom would scratch the screen with one hand, but in the relaunch, he scratches with both hands.
- In some old versions, there used to be bubbles on the food section, which when used, it would make Tom drink bubble soap and then hiccup a bubble. This was later changed back to bucket of milk because bubbles are not edible and are also dangerous to drink since they're made out of soap, which is really poisonous.
- Ben's hand can be seen when he hits Tom in the face with a cake.
- This app alongside the original version are one of three games that were released by Outfit7 for Windows Phone, with the other two being My Talking Tom and Talking Tom Cat 2.
- In the 2024 update, the loading screen has been added.
- Before the release of the relaunch, an Outfit7 employee uploaded 3 prototype testing videos of the game.[8][9][10]
